Going back to 1865, Neosho was named one of America's "10 best small towns." It was also recognized for having a library that has been serving readers for over 100 years.

Exploring The Post Office And Its Role In The Community

The Post Office of Neosho, Missouri is the oldest post office in the world. The original building was built in 1826 on Main Street, and it’s the oldest surviving structure in downtown Neosho.

It was donated to the town by Capt. Samuel Burt (1772-1838) of Walthall, New York, and it has been operated as a post office ever since. Over time, the building has undergone many renovations but remains one of the most historically significant buildings in downtown Neosho.
